Monica Ohkubo

Biography:

Monica Ohkubo is originally from San Luis Obispo.

Monica attended Sonoma State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology (2003). She later attended San Jose State

Monica earned her Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University (2003), and her Masters degree in Kinesiology from San Jose State University (2008). After practicing for a period of time, Monica attended Rocky Mountain University of Healthcare Professions and earned her doctorate in Health Sciences with a concentration in Athletic Training in 2017.

Monica started her AT journey at Santa Rosa Junior College where she is still working now (2005-present)! Her first 2 years was as a part-time assistant Athletic Trainer, and in 2007 Santa Rosa saw Monica’s worth and moved her to full-time Athletic Training position.

Monica currently resides in Santa Rosa, CA, and enjoys her Street Parking workouts, gardening and hanging out with her family and friends, including her new son, Kenji.

  • 2013 - California Athletic Trainers’ Association (CATA) - Special Service Award

  • 2012 - The League for Innovation in the Community College - John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award

  • 2011 - Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce - Excellence in Education Award
