Dear CATA Member:
Since January, we’ve been working hard to draw attention to the Youth Sports Safety Crisis in America – highlighting the increased instances of catastrophic injuries like concussions, heat illness and sudden cardiac arrest.
Our efforts have resulted in a successful summit event with the NATA as well as a pending legislative bill (AB 1647) that will ensure a number of safety provisions are put in place to keep youth athletes safe. This bill also covers title protection for athletic trainers.
Since March is National Athletic Training Month, we’d like your help in continuing to make coaches, parents and athletes aware of these very serious and potentially life-threatening problems.
In order to help you do so, we’ve created four separate informative Fact Sheets on each of the main topics:
Please make copies of these documents (color or black & white) and distribute them to school administrators, coaches, booster clubs, parents, PTA boards, etc. Here are some other ideas for distribution:
- Put out on tables at events
- Ask school administrators to post on school web sites and put in common areas
- Send them to your local media and offer yourself as a local spokesperson who can talk more about the issues covered in the fact sheets
- Distribute to parents and children during practices and games at all primary and secondary schools.
Please help with this effort and thank you in advance – it’s up to us to keep kids safe and keep them in the game.
